Back Online!

July 8th, 2009

Wow, what a relief. It is funny how much we tend to take connectivity for granted. After weeks of being left in no-mans land it feels good to be back and be able to regularly connect online and update on the issues for Hoover Industries and for me.

If you are a Hoover Industries customer or partner you are likely confused, angry and feeling quite abandoned. Believe me, you have our deepest regrets. We have been contending with a level of connectivity failures that would sound like the script of a bad Hollywood Movie, and if we handled the situation poorly it was from inexperience with this level of attack, not from malice or indifference.

You may have been receiving our auto-reply advising that various persons were interfering with our phones and emails and have been unable to reach us to inquire on the status of the parts you need. That alone was one step we tried to take to warn that we were having trouble.

To make what is probably a very long story short, we have been seriously compromised electronically in order to hide improper activities by certain former employees and outside parties.

The implications of all the activities the persons performing illicit order taking and funneling company funds had going on at Hoover were serious enough to them to prompt them to attack us so we would be unable to catch up to all the evidence before they could destroy records. They were also enough for us to decide that it was time to leave our manufacturing facility in Miami, where we have been since 1955 and find a new way to produce the many products on which our customers rely.

We expect to be able to update our customers and the industry with the new manufacturing address within a two month period.

In the interim we are looking for partners to help us support the aftermarket needs of our products through distribution and order taking.

Because of our recent experience we will be extremely selective in making these partnering agreements, but if you are interested, please write me at minfante@hooverindustries.com.

It is appropriate, we think, to declare our Independence from the recent barrage of attacks on the weekend of the American Independence celebration.

Keep in mind that while we are now ahead of the loop instead of behind it on the communications attacks scenario, I would liken our recent recovery to working in a sand castle. For the time being there may still be ongoing waves of new attacks that cause us to lose communications briefly.

The difference now, is that we have set up our infrastructure in such a way that any disabling of services will be very short lived.

Watch this space for any updates and contact updates.

Be well.
